Handsome devil. . .

After the holiday gig with the band.

Workouts have been going pretty well. I'm starting to run 5K on the treadmill; Thursday I was able to run most of it at 7.0 and then pumping it up to 7.5 for the last lap and a half. Awesome feeling. It did take a little bit out of me and I had a little trouble finishing some of my reps on the weights later. But I'm impressed on how my waist is trimming up. Just got to keep at it and hope my knees continue to co-operate.
Friday night I went to the temple to help sing "Over the Skies of Yisrael" for the special Hannukah dinner in the ballroom. It included a meal, of which they made me a special entree of veggies and rice (mostly green beans, which nobody else got!) This was after my new Jewish Momma, Shirley, made a big fuss with the servers. Gotta love it. I actually ate some veggie rolls from Trader Joe's before I left work, so I was OK with not eating. Our table got overlooked when the latkes came out, but Shirley made a big fuss and got the chef to make more for us. They were only going to give us one platter, but she convinced them to leave both at the table. They were good, but a bit heavy. Of course, that explains jewish food in a nutshell. I'm glad I only had room for one, because you can really feel them in your stomach an hour later. Had a nice dollop of apple sauce on top of them. A little white wine, because there were a couple of toasts to be made. Alan had us split up and sit two at a table so that we could mingle. It was a good idea, there were some very nice people at the table.
It was time to sing our song, and then the guest singers (which I was one) could stay or leave. I decided to go, as I was kind of tired. Our next gig is to sing for "Well in the Desert" for the holiday meal served at the Convention Center for the homeless and disadvantaged on Christmas day. It will be nice to contribute to a worthy cause.
